From Berryville Vet Clinic ~ Help needed adopting a very special cat. We found him wondering around the back of the clinic. When we finally were able to get close to him we discovered he was blind. Somehow he found his way to BVC for help! He is so very gentle and loving and does great getting around the clinic. He does well around other animals, although maybe a bit too trusting of dogs. He needs a special person that can accommodate his limitations. We think he may be between 3-4 years old. He has been neutered, tested negative for FIV and feline leukemia, vaccinated and dewormed. Please re-post this and get this out to as many people as you can. Thank you.

Boy I'm tempted. Just concerned how Kitty-Cali would take to that. She's a territorial bitch to the max. But mebbe she wants to be a grandma.

Thanks celeste.

Tell me you have a new kitty in the house, Mr. Wright. I just have a feeling that Cali will be especially sweet to this particular meowser.

Does he remember where his box is and stuff? I'm all for taking him to food and water and stuff i'd expect that.

Otay, we will try this out come Monday or so. I don't want a blind kitty to be terrorised by Kitty-Cali, nor do we want the Queen Bee to feel like she's been knocked off her throne.

She is one territorial bitch, I've seen her run off dogs ten times her size. But maybe this is what the old gal needs, now that she is an insider.

Such good news!

How I introduce a new cat to another cat(s) in the home is to place the new kitty in a bedroom on his/her own, keeping there for at least a week. I go in to visit, play, feed alone. After a few days of them talking through the closed door & playing paw under the door seek n search, I go into the new kitty's room & leave the door open so incumbent cat can choose to be curious. Sometimes it takes up to 2 weeks, but my secret weapon is to rub catnip on the new cat so the resident cat thinks it's one hep cat.

You're my hero, Mr. Wright.

I'm no hero, many will testify to that, under solemn oath.

But neither do we have a week or two, there is no playing around here, alone or otherwise. Either we live it or live with it, pretty simple.

Blind Boy Stevie update. So it looks like he's here to stay. Kitty-Cali, though not thrilled with the addition, is taking it much better than expected. She has not murdered any of us yet. Stevie is a very affectionate cat, despite his obvious history of abuse. All is still rough around the edges but seems to be smoothing out. Oh, his given name by the Vet is Stevie Ray Charles.

Though this idea was mine, Brent has taken the lead on this. His job is to accommodate the new while I placate the old. We both have ours hands full.

Stevie is adapting well and doesn't hide under the bed anymore....he is starting to talk and get more curious about other areas outside his safe zone. THE MOST LOVING CAT EVER!!

One last update, then I'm done. Kitty-Cali has had her world turned up-side down. She lost her daily throne for a nap (Brent's bed), her closet napping place too. Plus she lost her nightly cuddle with Brent. But I've taken her in, my bed is now her bed. She still occassionally hisses at Blind Boy, even Brent but never me. We are what we've always been, best buds.

Funny how a BIG chnage in a small world can turn everything upside down. Hopefully Kitty can forgive you/Brent soon & resume her throne.
