Hi TimeBankers,

Jay V. has been busy meeting with Deerwomon and getting volunteers signed up for the Penny Carnival and EarthDance Eureka Springs, happening this month on the 19th & 20th and 26th, respectively.

Volunteers are still needed, Please see details in Section 3 if you would like to help.

TimeBank hours are awarded to volunteers, but even more important is the warm feelings that are generated and the strong sense of community that is created by volunteerism. Much appreciation to those of you who step up to help!

Also see Section 3 for more details on the creation of the TimeBank paper mache Piggy Bank, which will be featured in future parades and events.

Quote:
From www.waynedyer.com
“Make an attempt to free yourself from placing a price tag on everything you have and do—after all, in the world of Spirit, there are no price tags. Don’t make money the guiding principle for what you have or do; rather, simplify your life and return to Spirit by finding the inherent value in everything. A dollar does not determine worth, even though you live in a world that attempts to convince you otherwise. “

Thanks,
Natalie

2. Local TimeBank News:
New Coordinators
New Coordinator Danny Turner has hit the floor running and is busy on several different projects on TimeBank's behalf, including creating a compilation of a collection of videos from various TimeBanks around the world to be shown at a future Open Meeting, creating new TimeBank flyers, and more. Thanks for pitching right in, Danny!

New Coordinator Still Needed

With Jacqueline Wolven and Raven Hill coming onboard the team as Volunteer Coordinators this winter, we expect there will be even more interesting opportunities for TimeBankers, but we will definitely be needing more help with collating and updating data, helping members with the website and troubleshooting minor website problems, etc.

If there are any detail oriented people who like working at their computers, helping people over the phone or via email with these kinds of tasks, who would like to help and get TimeBank hours in return as an assistant or as Coordinator, please call us! We would love to hear from you, and could really use your help in keeping TimeBank running smoothly. Even if you just know someone who you would like to nominate, please contact us.
Thanks!

3. Volunteer Opportunities

Old Fashioned Penny Carnival
EarthDance Eureka Springs
Benefit for Kate Lucariello

Penny Carnival
One volunteer is still needed for the Old Fashioned Penny Carnival to sit at the TimeBank table at Basin Spring Park from 9-12 on Saturday 9/ 19, handing out flyers and telling people about TimeBank.

EarthDance
Prior to EarthDance, we still need people to cut and gather wood and someone with a chainsaw to help. Also someone with a truck. The two who have volunteered to help with wood are available after 5 on Tues-Fri and on the weekend, so it should be fairly easy to coordinate times.

MANY VOLUNTEERS ARE STILL NEEDED FOR EARTHDANCE on 9/26 for various duties, and some items for loan or donation are still needed.

Piggy Bank
We are in touch with Clear Springs School about the possibility of their young artists helping to create the TimeBank paper mache Piggy Bank, which would be used in future parades and events, and which we plan to put the finishing touches on at EarthDance, with the help of the children who attend the event. More details asap.

Benefit for Kate Lucariello October/November:
A rubber duck race is being planned for late October/early November, and 20+ people are needed starting now to sell ducks for the race. Please call Vicki Rose at 847-899-0420 or email her at vicki911@hotmail.com. She won't be able to call you during the day, but please leave a message, and she will get back to you.

Please contact Jay V. at wldwm2@msn.com or call 479-363-6029 to volunteer for any of these events.
Thank you!

NOTE: CREATE YOUR OWN VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

You may have noticed in the New Transactions section that some members have been earning TimeBank hours by attending community meetings, giving talks for various groups, and so on. We want all members to understand that everyone in TimeBank can earn hours by giving community service, and you don't have to wait until the Coordinators have provided a Volunteer Opportunity. You can create your own!

If there is an event or meeting you would like to attend or a service you would like to perform for the community to earn TimeBank hours, please let one of the Coordinators know what it is so we can approve it and help you record your hours. We can't guarantee that we will approve every request. (For example, singing at a Karaoke bar would not really be considered community service, no matter how entertaining your performance might be! :)
However, events that have to do with building community, essential services to others, especially as related to sustainability, are good candidates. TimeBanking is different from regular banks in that we are HAPPY to give hours away, so please don't be shy!
