View Full Version : The diva

sweetness&light

I'm a theatrical diva short and sweet.
From on high, I'll step down so you can kiss my feet.
Nothing is as important as myself;
I'll not let you keep me ignored on the shelf.

If the conversation turns to things other than me,
I become the victim as quickly as can be.
Suddenly I'm the topic of the day.
I told you I refuse to be thrown away.

Nothing is too off limits for me,
As long as I'm the star for all to see.
I bask in my own glory of who I think I am.
What's not to want in a delusional ham?

I've had famous lovers you have heard about,
Amazingly enough, none claim we ever went out.
Poor dears, I guess my beauty ruined their memories for life,
Or because I won't admit my dates were more like Barney Fife.

I make certain the papers keep me on one of their pages,
Though it has gotten progressively harder thru my ages.
Any publicity is better than sitting at home being ignored;
Even being in the tiniest lime light can be the biggest reward.

Sometimes I get attention from taking a funky job,
Saying I've "been with" that trashy singing star, Billy Bob,
Or filing a lawsuit on some frivilous matter for money,
Because it's all publicity about wonderful me, honey.

I just can't get enough of know-it-all me.
Lord, it must be wonderful for you to know me.
In the grand scheme of life, what is better than me?
You know the one and only answer: me, me, me!
