Hi TimeBankers,

We heard from Eureka Springs Downtown Network organizer Jackie Wolven that the Old Fashioned Penny Carnival weekend on 9/18/19 & 20 was a great success for local merchants and will definitely be happening again. Congratulations to Jackie and thanks to Mary Wise, Bev Wilkinson and Alexa Pittenger for their volunteer time at the TimeBank table at Basin Spring Park during the Carnival.

Patrice, Alexa, George Myer and I( Natalie), met at George's barn and got started on a unique creation, the TimeBank puppet/ float. See details in Section 2

We have more details on the upcoming EarthDance event, and a new volunteer opportunity for TimeBankers at the outdoor benefit for Mike Garrett. See details in Section 3.

Thanks.
Natalie

2. Local TimeBank News:TimeBank puppet/float

Patrice, Alexa, George Myer and I (Natalie), met at George's and got started on creating the TimeBank puppet/float. We got the basic structure figured out, and we think it's going to be a sort of “Pragon”, though the head is still being worked on by George, so the personality of the creature hasn't completely emerged as yet. We see it as a chimerical combination of piggy and dragon, with a long, snaky body which can be paraded in Chinese dragon fashion by a number of people, kids hopefully!
The Pragon is going to be a colorful, lightweight, non-toxic, recycled, original creation! We would like the kids and adults attending the EarthDance event to help us put the finishing artistic touches on it, and help to display it in future parades.
Alicia Hensley showed up very serendipitously, just after we were thinking about asking someone with a sewing machine to help us, and she generously volunteered. We expect she and George will both be on our new member list soon, too. Special thanks to George and Alicia!

EarthDance may still need use of a truck and chain saw for cutting and transporting wood to Enthios. Please contact Jay V. if you can help (see details below).
Otherwise, it looks like there has been a very good showing of volunteers so far. Thanks to all who are stepping up to help!
Volunteers, be sure to record your TimeBank hours after the event.

TimeBank Video
Becky Gillette has agreed to help put together a short video about our TimeBank chapter which will be displayed on Youtube and which we are going to add to a compilation of TimeBank videos from around the world and show at a future Open Meeting. Thanks to Becky!

TimeBank Puppet/Float at EarthDance
The TimeBank “Pragon” puppet/float will be at EarthDance, and we are inviting attendees, kids especially, to help put the final artistic touches on our creation.

Benefit for Mike Garrett

Oct 4th at Bear Creek, from 1-10PM. (Mike recently took a fall from a high scaffold.)
There will be food prepared by local restaurants, an art auction, live music by several local bands, followed by a bonfire and drumming circle. Volunteers are needed for parking, setting up, cleaning up, moving the outdoor stage from the Auditorium basement to Bear Creek, etc.
(The raindate will be Oct. 11.)

Please email Jay V. at wldwm2@msn.com or call 479 363 3029 if you would like to help with any of these volunteer opportunities. Thanks!

4. OTHER LOCAL NEWS: REMINDERS: ALERTS and BROADCASTS &
CREATE YOUR OWN VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
To read ALERTS and more details about upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, etc. login to the Eureka Springs TimeBank Community Page at
http://community.timebanks.org/group.php?mode=curr
If you would like to see any information from previous BROADCASTS, please remember that the broadcasts are posted regularly at Geekfest.com in the Self Sustainability Forum.
You can also contact a coordinator for help.(See contact info in Section 5.)

Note: CREATE YOUR OWN VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
You may have noticed in the New Transactions section that some members have been earning TimeBank hours by attending community meetings, giving talks for various groups, and so on. We want all members to understand that everyone in TimeBank can earn hours by giving community service, and you don't have to wait until the Coordinators have provided a Volunteer Opportunity. You can create your own!
If there is an event or meeting you would like to attend or a service you would like to perform for the community to earn TimeBank hours, please let one of the Coordinators know what it is so we can approve it and help you record your hours. We can't guarantee that we will approve every request. (For example, singing at a Karaoke bar would not really be considered community service, no matter how entertaining your performance might be! :)
However, events that have to do with building community, essential services to others, especially as related to sustainability, are good candidates. TimeBanking is different from regular banks in that we are HAPPY to give hours away, so please don't be shy!
