The City has sent an email, saying that SWEPCO will be shutting off the power in ES for approximately 30-45 minutes, starting at 5PM.

They're doing some repairs at the substation.

we are with Carroll Electric out here on 23 N and ours never went out, hope everybody stayed warm enough.

I wish the Electric co. would have given us some advance notice about this.Something in the paper a week in advance would have been nice.It was a start to have the electric shut down with the snow forcast.
When I called the Electric co they said they did not know why it was off but they would be working o0n it!

I know what you mean, Thom. I was in line at Harts with many, many other people stocking up before the snow when suddenly the power went off. Poor Jay Gaylen had no idea what happened, just like the rest of us. Why didn't he get an email or phone call? Sure would have been nice to have some advance warning.

It does suck when the power goes off.
We were open and kids were everywhere.
It seems to me if it had been something that could have waited till non peak hours they would have waited.
I'm just hypothesising but, perhaps they told as many as they could while getting the work done for us before the storm hit and left us all cold and dark.

Word of mouth is a pretty good thing. Quite a few of us did get the message. I wish many more had and that we had time to plan ahead but it could have been alot worse.

Thankfully we only were without power for an hour. Much longer and it would have gotten pretty darn cold.

In the grand scheme of things it was not fun. But it did not cause any permanent damage and some people did get some warning. Ie. The hospital.
