Ask Senator Barbara Boxer to Stand Up and Support an Election Investigation
Dear friend,
Questions are swirling around whether the election was conducted honestly or not. We need to know -- was it or wasn't it?
When Congress reconvenes in January, at least 14 members of the House of Representatives will challenge the validity of the 2004 election. They will request an immediate investigation into many problems and irregularities encountered in the election.
According to the Electoral Count Act of 1887, one senator and one House Representative are required to contest an election prior to inauguration. We have the representatives; we still need a senator. Please let Senator Barbara Boxer know that we want her to be that senator.
The signed petitions will be delivered to her in person by a coalition of representatives from a variety of concerned organizations and individuals. Join us in encouraging Senator Boxer : www.ContestTheVote.org (http://www.ContestTheVote.org)
Thanks.
One of the cool features of this web site, is that it lists the towns and counties represented in the vote.
Let's have them wondering who the heck this Blue county is, in what they thought was Red(neck) AR!

What's the use. http://www.geekfest.com/ubb/frown.gif The electorate college is casting its vote this week, the votes will be reveiled on Jan. 6, the usurper will be sworn in on the 20th of January. Once this last step has taken place, there is no going back, and even before, it's almost impossible, UNLESS THEY DO IT NOW, i.e. this month. Next month, they will take their sweet time until after the inauguration, and that's it. No recourse. http://www.geekfest.com/ubb/frown.gif

Two words: Monica Lewinsky.
You can be impeached for a blow job but you can't be impeached for vote fraud? At least a blow job is Of the people, By the people, and For the people ...
I should be #32 in Carroll County. (The updates must not be real-time.)
So I did it ... but I must say: Based on my unofficial survey of random voters, I wouldn't be a bit surprised to learn that Bush won. Legitimately. There seems to be a whole lot of people out there who say I don't believe in one single thing that the Bush administration stands for but I voted for him because, a). Bush will keep me safe, b). Kerry through his medals over the fence.
(Note: Survey results obtained from a non-random sample of everybody who has lunged at me in the eggplant aisle since the first Tuesday in November. Margin of error approaches infinity.)
I must say, I have been amused, in a sick and twisted sort of way, by watching the news lately. All the news anchors have these horrified expressions and shocked tones of voice when they say, "President Bush's own PARTY is turning AGAINST him!!" Social security. Rumsfeld. Tax code overhaul. Faith-based Everything. The Mandate seems to be encountering an unexpected glitch or two.
This is probably only amusing if you spend a certain amount of time on Geekfest. Because watching the news, lately, is like watching Geekfest on Steroids. Here we see President Bush, joking his way through a press conference, pausing only to emit a passionate plea for whatever part of the Mandate is being Liberated on that particular day. "But I RAN on this platform!" President Bush cries. "And I got ELECTED!"
Meanwhile ... Republican Party leadership busies itself with giving speeches about how they're going to need to hear something other than what they've heard so far before they jump on the Great Mandate Ship. "When President Bush went out there and said all those things to get elected, we CERTAINLY didn't think he would expect us to VOTE for his programs! I mean, really! Can you imagine! [hmmph]"
It's like all those conversations on Geekfest: Well, when I voted for Bush because my hair was washed, my laundry was done, so I didn't really have anything better to do. But surely ... surely! He understands that my vote for him doesn't mean that I want him to gut Social Security and invade Iran!
Heh. Behold! The power of all that much-maligned nuance. That's the problem with berating nuance and looking all irritated and surprised when your Top Party Scolder doesn't respond to your every secret wish with a subtle, nuanced view.
Somehow, it comforts me to know that our regional obliquity is repeated on a national scale.
I know. It's sick. It's wrong. Maybe I could be healed with extensive therapy. But, for the moment, it's crackin' me up!

Well, I don't know... FWIT, I live in one of those so-called 'blue' states, and before/during the election, almost all you could see were Kerry stickers on cars (I would say something like 99%!).
Now you still see some, but all of a sudden there are an aweful lot of "W'04" stickers around. They all are coming out of the woodworks, it seems.
And, let's not kid ourselves: GW will never be impeached with a solidly Rethuglican House and Senate!

I don't know, Outsider2002 ... if it was proven that our President was elected by less than honorable means, would a pure-Republican House vote to impeach?
I'll have to admit that I am deeply in touch with my inner, middle-aged, sour, cynical bitch-ness when I answer, "It depends."
IF election fraud was proven and IF it was proven to such an extent that even NewsMax and FOX could not ignore the evidence, I'd still have to say, "It depends."
Because, imo, this is one of the most ironic features of our current electoral system: The results of our Great Democracy that Shall Be Model 'n Shining Light Throughout the World aren't actually democratic. Yes, I know. We're a republic. That's not what I mean.
I'm thinking of something more along the lines of, "The American justice system offers us the best defense we can afford." The Republicans who would be voting have campaign contributors to answer to. As far as I can tell, the success or failure of any vote, including a vote to impeach, is completely dependent on when that vote comes to the floor. If the cosmic forces align so that said Republican delegates have some other issue that could be advanced with an impeachment vote, it would pass. If the planets are in the sign of "it ain't politically worth it," votes fail.
Not that this has anything to do with THE Principle, of course. But it seems to be the way it works.
It's interesting that the GW stickers are only appearing now, in your Blue state, after the election. What does that mean ... I wonder? Do you have a theory?

The thing is, though, I believe that GW cannot be impeached for rigging the election UNLESS it can be proven that HE HIMSELF ordered the rigging, which I very much doubt...
My theory as to the stickers showing up now? I don't really know; I guess anybodys guess is as good as mine! One thing could be that there REALLY were way more votes for GW, and these are all the 'closet rethugs' coming out now, to rub it in, or they feel safe now to come out, since GW has been re-selected - I don't know.

I still have my sign in my car window that reads:
Republicans" The #1 reason why the rest of the world thinks we are deaf, dumb and dangerous.
I have found notes on my car thanking me. I have had people knock on my door thanking me. Yesterday, a truck kept honking at me. I am thinking "I will get out of this car and slap your face". When I parked, this lady in the truck pulled up behind me and said she was honking to show me support for my neat sign.
So far no one has let the air out of my tires or hurled insults at me.
I haven't seen that many "W" stickers, so can't really tell how many closet republicans are out there.
But I do think trying to get an honest election is a lost cause. And no, I don't think the republicans would impeach Bush if they had blatant evidence and one hundred preachers as witnesses. It would all be neatly pushed under a draped statue and forgotten about for the next four years.

Just this pig's opinion of course, but I believe we have a whole lot of political sheep in this country who are now afraid of looking the wrong way and having another one of their rights/liberties taken away and ending up in deep doo-doo unknowingly.
They installed the "W" sticker on their cars after the election results were announced, kind of like a get out of jail free card or "I'm supporting the current government, I'm exempt from harassment." Next will be the follow up bumper sticker: "For immunity, I can give you the names of known Democrat voters."
Personally, I'm a step ahead of everyone: I'm off to have my eyes done in an obvious Asian fashion for the next government. http://www.geekfest.com/ubb/wink.gif Gads, I hope it doesn't turn out like this icon.

Senator Boxer has joined Rep. Tubbs Jones of Ohio in officially contesting the electoral votes from Ohio.
This will not change the outcome but hopefully it will lead to real, long overdue, voting rights protection.
And of course send a message to the world that 'W' may not have honestly won.
