View Full Version : New Years Eve.........our LAST party for the Copacabana Club.
The time has now come to set the rumors straight. I just got off the phone with the new keeper of the Copa (only will be a different name). The new owner is from Branson, a sweet person, hard worker, and wants to keep the Copa atmosphere alive and well. She is here today, getting utilities put in their name. (this is why I think it is safe to finally tell everyone).
This Friday, New Years Eve, will be the last party at the Copa..........sounds strange to even type that. I hope to see my friends and family whom have supported us over the last 4 years. (with cameras)!
I will probably be crying one minute and laughing the next, kind of a bitter sweet thing, or maybe just hormonal.
Thank you.....to everyone who supported me, through good and bad. Thank you God, for all of the wonderful new friends I made, and for bringing many people together whom would otherwise never met.
So, with that said, I INTEND to make this the best party in four years !!!!
Hope to see ya'll friday night !

Lita dear, you will be missed and so shall the Copa. We love you and Janice and I will be there throughtout the night from time to time to say goodbye to a legend in night clubs for Eureka. Sorry to see you go, but why would you want to stay with the politics in this town. You are a community leader and will continue to be one in my eyes, just now with lots more time to promote DW. We shall see you there, with tears and laughter.

Oh, Lita!
It absolutely breaks my heart that I won't be there with you this weekend.
Just before the stroke of midnight, think of me and the other FPA's who've had so much fun at the Copa over the last year. We all love you dearly and even though we wish this wasn't the end, we support you in your decision.
I'll call you soon.
Love you!

I'm sorry we won't be able to join you, Lita. I was hoping we had until April to check in one more time. Best of luck and hope to see you sometime.
Thank you friends for your support. I won't be too far away. However, when my lease is up at my current residence, (about 4 months away), I will be residing outside the City Limits of Eureka. Just a few miles from town.
I will continue to work on DW, and promote it. (of course, the amount of promotion depends on the sponsors).
I don't know what I will be doing in the future, as far as a job goes. Kinda scarey. But, I am a firm believer of "when one door closes, another one opens". Everything happens for a reason.
night night for now,
Lita

Ah Lita, This is such sad news. Your club was wonderful and a special place to meet the best local folks. I can't imagine it will ever be the same. I was just beginning to feel like a "local".And oh those crabs! Now what will I ever do? The geekfest gatherings were so much fun. Does anyone think there will be any more of those without our Lita? Damn it , this towm seems to ruin the best of things! It's just awful to begin the New Year on such a bummer, sour note! Good luck Lita whatever you do! I am certain it'll be sucessful! Please stay in touch on geekfest. You will be missed! Love, Sad Deni

This is not a sour note Deni. It is a new year full of a bright new beginning for Lita.
Yes I will miss the Copa. I will miss seeing everyone there.
Why dont we welcome the new owner and her exhuberance. I bet she has some great ideas and will need us locals to come in and make her feel welcome during the long winter months ahead.
Lita will have much more time to give her fabulous daughter and her family now.
She will have the opportunity to better promote diversity. Lita is right she is closing one door and opening a bright new one for herself, her family and her community.
Just tell me how I can help Lita. I am ever so happy for you!

OK BARB, That's a good idea. Maybe we could ask the new owner(boo-hoo) to learn how Lita does crabs and plan a big Geekfest. One that Lita could attend at the table instead of the kitchen! You always see the bright side of everything Barb. Thanks heavens! love Deni
Yes, definatly look at the bright side of things ! I see lots of changes coming for me. I am thinking positive and moving forward.
Hind sight is 20/20. I reflect on events that occurred this past year, and as I have always said "everything happens for a reason".........you just may not know WHY at the time it is happening. As most of you know, Labor Day weekend was the straw that broke the camels back for me. If all of that sh.. wouldn't have come down on me, I wouldn't be looking at my last night at the Copa tomorrow night. Events which happened made me realize alot of things. Someone I spoke with a couple days ago made a comment to me, "this is the problem, people won't stay here long enough to fight it out". The real deal is, why should businesses and residence alike HAVE to fight it out??? You can only bang your head against the wall so many times before you get a concussion. This is why I choose to leave the Copa and live outside the city limits. Too much stress for me. (ask my cardiologist).
I have received phone calls and letters from people concerned about Diversity weekends. I will continue to advertise it and promote it this year as I promised to do. Now, you must remember....it takes the sponsors to make it work. I simply own the website to promote it to get the information out to many other areas. It is up to the SPONSORS, to organize all of the fun events, discounts, recreational activities, etc., and get the info to me, to put on the website to make it work. It's a group effort ! I know the new owner of the Copa (will be a different name) has big plans for Diversity. I hope everyone will continue to support it. www.eurekapride.com (http://www.eurekapride.com) brought LOTS of new visitors to this town this year. To the naysayers, it's already been proven to me......by MANY of the sponsors. I may not be the owner of the Copa or any business in Eureka, but I will always support Diversity.
Thanks again everyone ! My spirits are high......and thinking of future "projects".

Lita,
Sorry we didn't make it to the last party. Since I had a cold most of the week we thought it best not to share the cheer. We were regular party animals...filled up with grease and burgers at Sparky's, took home some ice cream and brought in the New Year with a snore!
I'm sure whatever you decide to do you will do well and prosper....only problem I see is finding another job where you can work in your jammies!
You know where the coffee deck or the waterfall is whenever you need'm http://www.geekfest.com/ubb/wink.gif
