A month or so ago I finished reading the fourth Harry Potter book. I can see why kids are so rabid about them.
I loved them and can hardly wait until the next one. Good easy reading and your imagination goes back to your childhood. I'm hooked.
The first book is Harry Potter and the Sorcerors Stone and so is the movie in the rest of the world. Only in the USA is it called Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone. Anyone know why?

Why thank you. I was given that info by another Harry Potter buff. Guess he was wrong.
I haven't seen the movie but hear it is pretty good.

I'm hooked on the Harry Potter series as well. My hubby is reading the fourth book and I can't wait for him to finish so I can get my hands on it!
Becky, you just have your titles and geography reversed. It is Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in America and other places in the world, but in England, the home of J. K. Rowling, the author, it is H.P. and the Philosopher's Stone. The movie was very close to the book, except it minimized Hermione's role near the end of the book and I didn't like that. One of the things that attracts me most to this series is the strong role model that Herminone is for young girls. I highly recommend the entire series for children AND their adults and like you, Becky, I am anxiously awaiting her new book.

Thank you Barb. Just saw a promo for the second movie coming out. Guess I'll rent the first.
Don't the books make you wish you had a magic wand and could ride a broom?

Another good book is "Fall on Your Knees" by Anne Marie MacDonald. Definitely not a children's book. Weird, weird, weird. But I had trouble putting it down. Deep dark skeletons in every closet.
Pop runs around Nova Scotia in a "hupmobile".

Thief!! So that's where my Hupmobile parts have been disappearing to. And I thought the Canadians were our friends. Is nothing sacred? I'm holding inventory on my various chocolate stashes and if I come up short....well...I just better not be short any chocolate or somebody's in deep cocoa butter.
