Everyone claims to know what this town needs to cure its ills.
Truthfully, it has so many that there aren't enough pills.
Unless you're speaking about the people who are squawking,
Then I know exactly about what you are talking.
Some say we need to come together as one.
Most folks agree, but nothing needed gets done.
Projects which will benefit just a few
Are usually the only successes pushed through.
Whether it's more parking that will boost business at just your place
Or a request to make downtown more Victorian with banners of lace,
Too many have developed the "Me Syndrome" deluxe;
They think their project is special and should get all the bucks.
We all think our own ideas are stellar and should get all the money.
This town is itty bitty and doesn't generate that much, honey.
My feeling is that a project should be for the majority's good,
Not just for increased business to one or two in their neck of the hood.
Gawd, how I hate to raise an unpopular issue at hand;
Would it not be better if the city had a master plan?
Shouldn't there be goals set for upkeep, improvement of the city?
Ordinances obeyed, plans set in stone to make the town pretty?
A purposeful plan voted and agreed on to follow---
Now that would be a first for the highway and hollow.
There would be a comprehensive schedule to follow in succession,
To make sure each area had its own magnificent obsession.
For each new improvement like replacing sidewalks or holiday lights,
There would be a certain time frame for completion to eliminate fights.
Not every project would have the same amount of money for seed,
But the project would be something that area had a great need.
Little by little, we could actually accomplish good deeds,
Besides volunteers house painting and picking up weeds.
Ok, so this is what I think the town as a whole really needs,
Or we will only be wearing our wrinkles and hippy love beads.
We'll soon hear why these ideas have already been tried and failed here before
And these people will say why it didn't work then and won't never more. I think I really do know what this town needs to make it super:
It all starts with a flush and a giant people pooper scooper.
Truthfully, it has so many that there aren't enough pills.
