View Full Version : Reality sucks

I'm sick of facing and living in reality.
What I'm seeking is fantasy and banality,
Just like those folks who visit our old city
Who say "Isn't it nice? My, it's so pretty."

"Wouldn't it be perfect to live here all year?"
That's what we all thought, that's why we're here.
The town has a special siren song of its own,
And charms you to be a member of its twilight zone.

Even if you research it all quite a lot,
What you saw and heard is not what you got.
The facade is like frosting on a cake;
Hidden inside it's distressingly fake.

I'm not saying the citizens and business people aren't nice,
But they've pretty much got their lives caught in a political vise.
They all want to see the town prosper and are willing to work,
But the innards of public entities have more than one quirk.

Promises are made and then, for one reason or another, are not kept;
Somewhere there's a huge carpet with a big pile of dirt where it's been swept.
Citizens hopes for a better future have slipped off the wagon
There's too many people whose spirits are more than just saggin'.

Now, there seems to be a deadly virus here among us;
It's called apathy and no one seems to care to fight this fungus.
This is when you know the spirit is spent;
You'll wonder what happened and where the town went.

You're asking me my suggestion to you:
Hiring a witch for a spell of voo-doo.
And while we're at it, have her clean up our springs, too.
We can take up a collection; it's all up to you.

That was eloquently put, painful, and true. What can I do to help? I think I can find a witch, cheap.

Very eloquent, indeed. Echoing my sentiments exactly. Only last week I was discussing that fair Eureka seems to need a cleansing or an exorcism. There is an undercurrent there that seems to slowly creep into the populous and spreads like cancer. So sad to see it diminishing rather than flourishing holistically. I hope you find a good witch!
