View Full Version : Fish Story

It has been brought to my attention that my neighbor, Debbie Frisbie, has a livestock hobby consisting of a herd of small, attractive fish she has given a home in tastefully designed ponds much admired by visitors on the Second Annual Preservation Society Garden Ramble on May 25th.

These livestock do not moo, whinny, crow, bleat or bray at all hours and their presence can not be detected by any of the senses except eyesight at a distance of a few feet.

It is a proven fact that identical species of fish of opposite genders in a pond do what all such fish do about having little fish.

Offering the results of this piscatorial cohabitation to friends offends the City of Eureka Springs in some manner as yet unstated beyond the realm of personal opinion.

However, that opinion, expressed in the City Council meeting of June 3, included the demand that Ms Frisbie be removed from the Historic District Commission to prevent a person not following the law from sitting in judgement of others who are not following the law.

If the complaining council member has ever questioned the placing of millions of dollars in city funds within the reach of a convicted criminal, I am not aware of it.

Until such a time that a member of the City Council charges my neighbor with unlawful activity by citing specific governing ordinances being violated and presents documented proof about the number, times and dollar amounts of said violations and makes an enforceable complaint to the proper authority I will continue to admire Debbie Frisbie's underwater ranch and encourage others to do so.

Holy Fishnet, Did I just see councilman Dozier slander a Debbie Frisbie on public recorded TV? Aren't the minutes published? If so than (lets look at my law book)here it is Libel. Slander and Libel in one night. Thats more than the council gets done in a month. Have you heard of the old Mexican song MUCHO DINERO. It goes $$$$$$$$$

Could this be a case of big fish in a little pond syndrome or parent fish eating their young? Fodder for a Friday night fish fry?

Thank goodness the city of Eureka Springs has no other pressing business than that of private citizens being chastised for not having their pond fish vaccinated for rabies.

Or is Royal yanking our collective chains to see how many of us bark, squeal, moo or rattle?

Is that why the parks commission wants an increase in the sales tax so they can have a fish pond?

Royal, can you explain precisely what Ms. Frisbee should have done in regards to codes and such prior to building her pond? Should she have gone before the HDC, Planning Commisssion, City Council for permission?
Did some one complain to the council?
Does this incident back up Bill King's editorial? Is this turn about is fair play?
Hope this is settled without costing her more time and money, but should she have followed criteria? Has she sat in judgment of people who have done similar things? How did she react if so?

Gov. calls for special legislative session to save the state from "storm of economic catastrope". Gov. may ask for special taxes on cell phones, chocolate sales, fish ponds, pigs, motorcycles, gun and car shows, and toll booths at all state bridges.

Royal, if you would write a book (about something other than politics) I would buy it. I love the way you write.

Governor's wise opponents suggest everyone install a fish pond to grow their own fish for food and a bigger selection of pond scum.

Governor to ask feds for money to build a pond to match the Governor's triple wide mansion.

Great idea sweetness&light, we can start a whole new industry installing fish ponds, here and state wide. Was at the Huntsville flea market this morning looking for some piranha fish to stock fish ponds. It was so nice to get out town, away from the nuts at city hall. One thing I like about Huntsville, the people talk funny, and don't use cell phones or spy on each other. And no sales tax or CAPC tax on goods brought or sold! There were no pigs for sale, maybe next Tuesday.

j dubyah,
Are you looking for a porcine companion? Or are you talking bar-b-qued baby back ribs? This baby hasn't had ribs in a boar's age.

What kind of flea market is in Huntsville? Is it inside or outdide and what quality of stuff. do you know of any others in the area
Also just came back from visiting Debbie and Ron and learning about their Eureka experience. I truly wish things were more like they used to be with neighbors helping neighbors, having potlucks together and enjoying the good life.

The Huntsville outside flea market is every Tuesday morning, has been going on for years. Located at the WalMart parking lot. People come from the hills and miles around. Best to get there at 8:00am. After that, hard to find a place to park. Look poor and talk funny, that way you get good prices. My main hit today was a Hall Los Angeles cobolt & gold teapot, c-1930's, in excellent condition, same people were selling rabbits and roosters. I am sure you could use some little baby ducks. Its fun, need some chickens or fresh eggs. You never know what goodies are to be found. Sometimes I feel like I am on Maxwell St. in Chicago. Sorry, you will not find any old "stupid white men" there, Eureka Springs has that market cornered.

Don't we all, savi? I think due to long standing not trusting each other, back biting and if you can't get a big enough bite, then stab 'em, happenings here, the distrust had taken over neighborliness (if that's not a word, it is now).

As with anything in this town of distrust, mistrust and disgust...baby steps to the way you would like to see everyone cooperate. Maybe it could start with one neighbor inviting another neighbor over for a barbq or potluck or do you remember those old roaming dinner things? Obviously, I can't remember the name, but each neighbor was assigned a dinner selection of either soup, salad, veggie, entree, or dessert and the rest of the neighbors all met at soup's house and ate soup, then went to salad's house and had salad and then went on and on....I would refer to this function as dinner exercise because you have to walk from one house to another. This way each house was responsible only for one part of the meal instead of inviting the whole neighborhood for a complete din-din.

As always, full of ideas, but lacking in personal chocolate fulfillment.

Well something smells fishy here and it ain't Debbie's ponds. Debbie is the one who introduced me to water gardening. She has shared a wealth of information with me and has given me fish and plants (oh no does this mean she's running a nursery too?)

Shame on you Mr. Dozier and shame on whoever put you up to this. Unfortunately this type of behavior has become all too common in Eureka.

Royal why is the criminal on the outside any different than the convicted criminal who works for the capc handling capc dollars?
