Forget Michael Jackson and the endless reels of his car rolling through the streets of Vegas. A lot of Really Big Stuff happened today. One more round of cut 'n pastes, then I'll stop. (I promise).

------------------

ISTANBUL, Turkey (AP) -- Trucks packed with explosives blew up at a London-based bank and the British consulate Thursday, killing at least 27 people and wounding nearly 450. The worst terrorist bombings in Turkey's history coincided with President Bush's trip to Britain and were blamed on al-Qaida.

-----------------

KIRKUK, Iraq (AP) -- A bomb apparently hidden in a pickup truck exploded Thursday at the offices of a U.S.-allied Kurdish political party in this northern oil center, killing five people and injuring 40, including children, officials said. It was the second car-bombing in as many days against Iraqis who cooperate with the U.S.-led occupation.

--------------------

LONDON (AP) -- Amid chants, the blast of foghorns and the beat of drums, tens of thousands of anti-war activists marched peacefully in London Thursday to let President Bush know of their opposition to U.S.-British policies in Iraq.

-----------------

MIAMI (AP) -- Officers and hundreds of demonstrators clashed Thursday near the site of talks to create a free trade zone for North and South America. Police blanketed downtown, remembering trade-related riots in other cities.

-------------------

OK. What would be your vote for the Irony of the Day Award? I've got several:

1). Bush and Blair stand united, telling the world that these bombings are continued justification for coaliltion presence in Iraq --- meanwhile, the world tells THEM that the bombings were provoked by coalition presence in Iraq. (eh wot???)

2). [Florida] Gov. Jeb Bush removes the Broward County's elections supervisor from office, citing neglect and incompetence including an embarrassing 2002 primary marked by bad ballots and uncounted votes. (I don't know about you but I, for one, am shocked and awed.)

3). Amidst the vaudville-like sounds of splatting eggs and rotton tomatoes, Bush assures the UK that his administration is "committed to free trade." (WTO representatives who ruled that the US violated international trade laws were last seen on the slow boat to China, wrapped in sanctioned Chinese textiles and smoking embargoed Cuban cigars.)

4). On this day in history, New Jersey became the first state to sign the US Bill of Rights. (Bill? Who is Bill Rights? Is that the famous Saturday Night Live guy? As in Mister Bill ... "Oh no, Mister Hand!!?!?)

Auuuuuggggghhhhh!!!

OK. Pardon my obsessive-compulsive nature. Or don't. That's OK too. But you know, as we fret here in Carroll County over our Quorum Court and County Departments that have to cut budgets .... and in Arkansas about our State that is considering raising the sales tax and consolidating schools ... do we ever consider where the money that used to trickle down to states trickles off to now?

Into the Bush Buddie's Depends?

A rusty Maxwell House Coffee can, as in "Good to the Last Drop"?

Carefully concealed and various trusts too complicated to decipher that go to a favorite charity...and we all know that charity begins at home, bless her heart.

Not to worry Kim, Dubya and Tony are keeping an eye on the situation...or maybe Dubya is a little distracted by Mrs. Blair. I hope Tony is paying attention...to the World situation that is. Who dresses Laura anyway?

I noticed it continues to blow up too....

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- Two adjacent hotels in central Baghdad were rocked by explosions early Friday, apparently the result of rocket attacks.

Witnesses said at least two rockets hit the upper floors of the Palestine Hotel, where CNN is based.

One person was carried from the hotel on a stretcher, soaked in blood, according to CNN's Jane Arraf.

The nearby Sheraton Hotel also appeared to have been attacked about the same time, also with rockets.

Both hotels are heavily guarded with coalition forces, surrounded by tanks and concrete barriers.

Those are some heavy duty wool suits she wears. I thought the shop where Mamie Eisenhower bought her hats was out of business, but apparently the suit department is still alive and in the 50's.

Laura has a nice figure. It's too bad she doesn't buy her clothes were Jackie did. Ooops! I forgot...Jackie bought most of her designer duds in France.....or....maybe that's where she got that suit. http://www.geekfest.com/ubb/biggrin.gif As proof of France's friendship to her husband?

As usual the great American public is distracted by what is truly important in this world.....who sleeps with who.

I hate to be cynical, but why do I keep expecting the Washington Post and the NY Times to be replaced by the National Enquirer as the primary news source for our country?

And to think the rockets fired today were fired from donkey carts! Modern times modern transportation. My ass!
