TAKE ACTION: Demand that KRXQ Radio Hosts Rob Williams and Arnie States Apologize for Encouraging Violence Against Transgender Children

    http://www.glaad.org/Page.aspx?pid=730

JUNE 2, 2009 — In a lengthy May 28 tirade on the Rob, Arnie & Dawn in the Morning radio show heard in Sacramento, California on KRXQ 98.5 FM and Reno, Nevada on KDOT 104.5 FM, hosts Rob Williams and Arnie States verbally attacked transgender children. While discussing a recent story about a transgender child in Omaha, Nebraska and her parents' decision to support her transition, the two hosts spent more than 30 minutes explicitly promoting child abuse of and making cruel, dehumanizing and defamatory comments toward transgender children.

You can listen to the entire segment beginning at 4:48 by clicking this link:
    http://robarnieanddawn.com/newsite/a...%20America.mp3

Among the comments made by the hosts:

ROB WILLIAMS [11:12]: This is a weird person who is demanding attention. And when it's a child, all it takes is a hug, maybe some tough love or anything in between. When your little boy said, `Mommy, I want to walk around in a dress.' You tell them no cause that's not what boys do. But that's not what we're doing in this culture.

ARNIE STATES [13:27]: If my son, God forbid, if my son put on a pair of high heels, I would probably hit him with one of my shoes. I would throw a shoe at him. Because you know what? Boys don't wear high heels. And in my house, they definitely don't wear high heels.

ROB WILLIAMS [17:45]: Dawn, they are freaks. They are abnormal. Not because they're girls trapped in boys bodies but because they have a mental disorder that needs to be somehow gotten out of them. That's where therapy could help them.

ROB WILLIAMS [18:15]: Or because they were molested. You know a lot of times these transgenders were molested. And you need to work with them on that. The point is you don't allow the behavior. You cure the cause!

ARNIE STATES [21:30]: You got a boy saying, `I wanna wear dresses.' I'm going to look at him and go, `You know what? You're a little idiot! You little dumbass! Look, you are a boy! Boys don't wear dresses.'

ARNIE STATES [29:22]: You know, my favorite part about hearing these stories about the kids in high school, who the entire high school caters around, lets the boy wear the dress. I look forward to when they go out into society and society beats them down. And they end up in therapy.

To her credit, co-host Dawn Rossi stood up to Williams and States during the segment. Despite her apparent lack of familiarity with transgender issues, Rossi repeatedly defended transgender people and made an on-air apology for her colleagues' defamatory remarks.

Transgender is a growing epidemic(wrong word, said many a star and Jamie Curtis).
We can adapt to the questionable if we have the will to be includsive.

Jamie Lee Curtis and many a persons you may know were sexually determined right after birth.

I knew a kid a long time ago who was raised by these “hosts” methods.

He always said, “I'm a girl” from the time he was very, very little. His mother was understanding, but his father was a caveman. Not just on this issue... in general. He definitely used the abuse/defame/throw shoes method of telling his child to, “Be a man, girl!”

It worked. Not really, but as far as the father was concerned. I ran across this kid's (now an adult) MySpace page a while ago. It was full of photos with captions that sounded like they had been written by his father (as his father used to speak.)

There was no information about what he was up to... personally. Nothing about friends, work, hobbies, interests, pets, musical taste... nothing personal. Just page after page after page of photos with women in various stages of undress and captions like, “Here I am with my bitches,” and “Look at my hot chicks.”

He (still unwillingly “he”) had a universally flat, gaunt, haunted expression in every single photo.

The whole story still haunts me... from start to present. His father is presumably happy... but what a terrible cost.

When my daughter was little there was another little girl who swore she was a boy. Her mother let her wear boys clothes and dress as she wanted. That mom took a lot of criticism, but I'll bet that child didn't grow up totally screwed up either. Her mom had unconditional love for her. There was not father in the picture to influence the boy thing one way or the other.
Years later when I worked in the ER, a pitiful soul came in. She had tried to commit suicide. The doctors believed her to be a boy until they cut her clothes off. Duct taped breasts, a homemade artificial penis taped to the inside of her leg. And she had dated. The girls she dated didn't know. but this one she really liked had found out her secret and that is why she tried to kill herself.
I had a heck of a time finding out her real name because she kept giving me a male name. Finally, her father came in. He was a frail fellow and seemed afraid to tell the truth about her sexuallity, because she was strong and would whoop up on him. But he did.
Years later, "Boys Don't Cry" was made and it reminded me so much of that girl. Only the girl I knew was black.
She was so damaged, I don't believe an operation would have helped her. You just wonder how they get the way they are. Transgender, sexual abuse, No love? I can well imagine suicide would be high among them.

What is it that a person who has male, female and two sets of DNA called? In rare cases one has impregnated the other and the obvious female sex has given birth?
There is so little we know, but yet so much more than our parents did. Maybe someday these people will be accepted as they are and not have to live with stigmas.
    God bless us, everyone.

Dick Greggory use to say "kids are kids, no matter what the color'. Or the gender bent, kids are kids. Let the adultism deal with whatever issues confront them. But as leetle kids, let them be kids, without being saddled with adult baggage.

    Default Some info on KRXQ

KRXQ is an Sacramento CA FM station on 98.5 and calls itself "98 Rock". Its music format is that of mainstream rock. KRXQ/98 Rock is owned by Entercom Communications.

Pretty much another crappy corporate radio station that has resorted to pandering to a misogynistic, and bigoted listenership for ratings. Hot talk on FM morning shows is nothing new, but making sport of transgender children is simply Hate Radio in my book. Its one thing to be critical of the government, or public officials but to advocate violance against children who are questioning their true gender is disgusting and IMHO grounds for revocating a station's license.

    Heretic Huh?

Hi everyone, this is my first ever post.

Shuggie, I don't understand either of your posts about Jamie Lee Curtis. Is there something about her that I don't know about? How does she fit into the whole transgender issue?

Yes I realize I may be stepping in it, but at least I'll know what I've stepped in.

    Thanks,
