FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
BCC Honors Director

B.C.C.--What’s New?
By Melissa Crider

Berryville, AR-(February 6, 2004)- It feels good to give credit when credit is due. Every once in awhile, a young person comes along who inspires us with a refreshing confidence in the future of our society due to the integrity and quality of leadership he or she demonstrates in his or her community. This month, the Berryville Community Center would like to honor its Director, Mrs. Emma Hamilton. Emma, as she prefers to be called, has been part of the staff at BCC since its creation in June of 2002, and was a part of the planning of its existence long before. One word comes to mind when describing this 23 year-old: together. Emma graduated from the College of the Ozarks in May of 2002 with a B.A. in Psychology and due to her outstanding scholastic achievement, was granted lifetime membership in Psi Chi, when she was inducted into the National Honor Society in April of 2002. She has shown much interest and dedication to the city of Berryville all of her life and has worked for them since she was 16 years old.
Emma began her affiliation with the Community Center as the Aquatics & Fitness Director in May of 2002. She later took on the position of Berryville Parks & Recreation Director since June of 2003. As such, part of her responsibility is to oversee the Community Center as Director. She also instructs two aqua aerobics classes here at the center. This seems a time of new beginnings for the young lady. Emma has a birthday around the corner, a brand new dog, a brand new home, and a brand new husband. She also happens to be one of the nicest people you’re bound to meet. She is a pleasure and an asset to the Center, the City of Berryville, and to those who know her. We are very grateful to have her as our Community Center Director and wish her a wonderful new year.
Also, at BCC this week: This Tuesday, the free Adult Education Gardening & Horticulture series continues. This series is taught by Leon Duncan, University of Arkansas Carroll County Extension Agent, and master gardener. He’s sure to turn those “black thumbs” green in time for springtime. Duncan will be at BCC for the next three Tuesdays in February, 10-11am. Call or email to reserve your seat; times vary and seating will be limited. Stay informed: class subjects change every Tuesday for variety. These free classes and lectures are taught by different instructors from near and far who donate their time to the community. We make this possible because we believe that supporting life-long learning will bring immeasurable advancement in the improved esteem and wellness of our communities now and in the future. If there is a topic you‘d like to teach or learn about, feel free to contact us. We are here to incorporate our community’s interests to the best of our ability.
