There's nothing like a good stiffy!
I'm working on that Jim, it may take a while. It's not just perceived, I'm taking Ron literally from his posts here. I just get angry when I see some want to destroy the most successful to happen in Eureka in the last hundred years. Nothing else even comes close to having the positive impact on incomes, quality of life and the vitality of the City. NOTHING! Eureka went from near extinction with marginal, boarded-up or burned-out businesses to being a model for hundreds of communities across the Nation. We're not all that unique anymore, there are hundreds of restored historic districts out there. While we desperately need some visionaries of the quality and dedication of the Freunds, the last thing we need is to wipe out the biggest gift they gave us.
Ron can correct me, but I seem to remeber him advocating something many of us feel appropriate and that is the shrinking of the historic district so there would be more conforming structures.

SWC,
First, I wish you and Raven all the success.
However, in answer to your own question about what crosses the line, I thought Jan made it pretty clear that if we want to advertise on Geekfest outside of the classifieds, we should take out a banner ad.
Promoting your new business's grand opening was fine by me, but this "thousands of brushes" post is nothing more than an ad for your business and in my opinion crossed the line Jan drew for us all. But then, I am not the owners of this board, and I am not trying to tell you or them what should be allowed. They do just fine keeping the peace, especially when Scottie's Mom gets riled up and comes off the porch.
There are lots of people who have tremendous venture at risk here in Eureka. I sure don't want them all to start posting their "thousands of items" ads here.
Remember, I bet that young lady thought her one-hour delivery service was going to make Eureka Springs a better place too, and she probably lost lots of money. Maybe we should all keep that in mind when we criticize another's venture?
It's a bogus argument Jim. Any building over 50 years old can be contributing. We're just coming into a period where we'll gain a lot of conforming contributing structures. In fact the very existence of these structures is historically significant because it documents Eureka's return from the brink. That's what the whole thing is about. It's not about creating a Disney Land atmosphere, it's about preserving a community's history and culture.

Hear here, their there.
Now Gf family is by cyber-blood given a certain level of tolerance by us posters when it comes to blatant advertising by family.
"......that young lady thought her one-hour delivery service....." Wasn't that the total exploitation of this site for business gain, for free.
Others only post here when a business occasion pops up. But Ron & Raven have posted here too many times, on too many topics to count. I dunt think either of them would exploit this board, other than an initial excess show of exuberance.
I think a banner ad for the Art Colony is in order here on Gf but certainly not any of my business. Mebbe a collective ad by all the tenants. Anchor that space to this space and watch the Gf family pitch in for the businesses at the colony.
"If we all stop lying to each other, how are we ever going to get to the truth?" Saving Grace
I'm bothered by all this drivel.
I'll go away with my pencils in hand from Practical Magic.
