CHAPTER VIII - CAPITAL COST ESTIMATE

The estimate of the capital cost of the project contained in this chapter covers Stage 1 and 1A, which builds an electric streetcar line from the present Trolley Terminal to Harmon Park. This system is estimated to cost approximately $7,500,000. To this project cost should be added the engineering, design and construction management costs, which are normally calculated as a percentage of the project cost. Further, at this early stage of the project, a contingency of 25% of the project is normally added to cover unforeseen items which may arise during the detailed engineering phase. The breakdown of the capital cost is shown on Table 8 - 1:
